I think we may have a yeast problem. At Adelaide's last well baby check I showed the doc a little tiny rash and was like, it's never bad but I just want to make sure it isn't yeast (i.e. never going to go away). He said, "oh yeah that's yeast, I'll give you some cream." He gave us a script for a steroid cream that we were instructed to use a teeny tiny bit of. I didn't feel great about this and hesitated but decided to try it. I used the smallest amount possible (like the amount you would put on a flea, again her rash was tiny) and it cleared up right away.
That was about a month ago and now it seems worse and appears at random times. For instance, this morning and throughout the day her butt was totally fine and then close to bedtime her training pants were wet because we missed a pee. It was time for a bath anyways so I bathed her and then when I went to put her nighttime diaper on there was a rash around her anus that was worse than any she's had yet (bright red). The only thing I can think of is that that last pair of training pants she was wearing is infected with yeast that won't go away and once she wet them it sort of activated the yeast and created a rash rather quickly. Am I crazy or does this make sense?
I've done some online research and from what I've read yeast is hard to get rid of once it invades your cloth diaper stash. But here is what "they" say to do.
1.) Wash with 15 drops of grapefruit seed oil.
2.) Dry in sun (including wipes, inserts, EVERYTHING)
3.) let baby's bum see the light of day
We are in the middle of our move so I can't do this right away but as soon as we get into the RV I will get right one it and see if it gets better. Thank god we have a washer/dryer in our rig! Wish me luck and please give any feedback on your own personal yeasty experiences.
